Mostly you'd need to be looking at punches. Or some examples of master drawings for matrix manufacture. I was a little surprised to not see more inktrap examples in this Letterform Archive collection…1 -

Likable! Counter of /v might be a bit large. Bowl of /a feels droopy to me where the rest is so perky. /z might need more contrast. It'll be interesting to see what you do with the caps. The /A here …1 -

At least to some extent, all letters should be recognizable! Here I’d say a stylistic set isn’t much use: the top Ff with the round elements are too illegible to use at all, and the bottom Ee with mo…3 -

The mottled and overlapped hat in the same ink suggests to me this was lithographed, not letterpressed. I would guess there won't be a metal-type "smoking gun" here.5
